  • MG6 Cambelt /K Series
Thank you very much, very useful.

Did you change your cambelts at 4 or 5 years? I know MG recommend 5 years but I know some like to change earlier. My car will be 4 years old in January.

  • MG6 Cambelt /K Series
Does anyone have the part numbers needed please? I assume all the parts are the same as an MG ZT 1.8 Turbo?

What make of belt and pump have you all used?

The dealer wants £160 for the belt, pump and tensioner!

    Is this the one?

    Plymouth dealer gone
Thats a shame :( although some MG dealers just arent meant to be, Greenhous MG close to me were awful, thank goodness they shut their MG operation down. I now have 2 dealers in a 20 mile radius.

On another note, I was tempted to get the MG TL they offer serious value for money at the moment. A new one for £12,500 was the best price i found.

If your MG6 alarm keeps sounding when it shouldn't be, it is caused by water ingress into the battery backed up alarm sounder unit.

You will need to replace the part, part number 30019248, at a cost of about £30.

    To Remove:
    1. Open the boot and peel back the passenger side boot carpet revealing the back of the rear light.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts from the back of the rear light cluster.
    3. Slide the light out and unclip the electrical connector.
    4. Now look down into the bumper and you will see a 10mm bolt holding the sounder unit.
    5. Remove the bolt and then remove the electrical connector. It is a little tight, but it is much easier done this way than removing the whole bumper!

I opened up my old unit, you can see that water ingress has caused the circuit board to short. The seal around the sounder is insufficiently sealed in places.

To prevent this happening in the future, I sealed the old unit with a clear silicone sealant all around where the two halves of the plastic meet. I appreciate this may not be pretty, but its not something that can be seen and it will stop this from happening again.

    MG GS test drive
I have had the same issue recently with our local dealer, wanted to buy an MG6 TL, chased them up twice both times I was promised a callback, that never happened. So I went into the dealer to speak to them face to face and low and behold they had no MG6 facelift diesels in stock to test drive, promised they'd get back to me to arrange a date... and you can guess what happened next :(

Does anyone know or has access to the MG service manual for the MG6 Petrol? Would be handy to have, for correct torques values etc.

On that note, what is the correct torque for the sump plug? Is it 25NM same as a K-Series?

    Thanks.

  • Re:Does your MG6 do this??
Its a terrible feature that should be able to be toggled. As far as I see it, MG don't want me to smell my window washer fluid, when I wipe my Windows, but its ok for my car windows to mist up whilst doing 70 on the motorway and end up in the central reservation...
