I don’t think it is the handbrake as the fault occurs before the car is moved, thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Thanks for the reply, it is a strange fault indeed, I have started to wonder if it is something to do with the battery being low, for the last two winters the stop/start on my car has not been working even with very little functions like heating etc running.

Last week when I started my car (65 plateTL) there was a bang or popping sound which seemed to come from the rear of the car, the main screen went blank and I could not access any of the functions, Radio or Sat Nav etc.
I was convinced it must be a blown fuse as I couldn’t think of any reason for the bang, everything else still worked and the car dove okay, I got to my destination and the car was left for a couple of hours or more. I started up again and the screen and functions were working again, I was quite surprised as I thought it might be a major fault, it has been okay until today when it did exactly the same thing, worked again after a few hours.
I have spoken to the local dealer but they have not come across this before, I just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience.

    18" alloy wheels
I have the standard 16" alloys on my 2015 TL, one was showing some corrosion so I went back to the dealer. They said it would be replaced, it turns out they have now stopped making these wheels, I was lucky to get one as at first the said they would pay for a refurb.
Go and have a word with your dealer, they should not be deteriorating so quickly.

Not sure if anyone would be interested but I have just called at my local dealer (Stanley Cars in Bradford)
They have a 61 plate metallic grey MG6 with just over 200 miles on the clock, apparently the owner bought it then was ill so garaged it and didn't use it.
To all intents and purposes it is a new car, it is a 1.8 petrol, they are asking £7995 for it, I was tempted myself as it really is a stunning car.

    Stop Start
Just another update on this, the stop start has suddenly started working again for the last couple of days.
The only quirk is if the car starts itself after standing for a while, the epb fault (electric parking brake) message comes on briefly. If I start the car myself by depressing the clutch the message does not appear.
I have not done anything to get the stop start to work again, I wonder if the battery had managed to build some more charge up.

    Stop Start
Just a quick update on this, I called at a specialist battery fitting centre and got them to check the strength of mine.
The meter said the battery was in good condition but was low on charge, the guy asked if I was doing a lot of short journeys. As it happens my place of work has changed temporarily and is a shorter journey, I am going and finishing in the dark so lights, heating etc are in full use.
He suggested using a battery charger to get the power back up, I will soon be doing a round trip of two hundred miles or so, most of it in daylight so hopefully will get plenty of charge into the battery.

    Stop Start
Thanks for that, I will have to think about a more powerful battery, is it difficult to change the battery? There seems to be a lot of stuff on top of it, fuse boxes etc.

Do you think so? The car is only just over two years old.

The stop start function on my car has started behaving a bit strangely, I know that if you have too many things running it does not kick in.
The fault is it kicks in but instantly stars up again, I have tried it with no heating or air con etc but it still does it.
Normally it just does not even stop if too much is on but every time it stops it starts again straight away.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
