If you have a steel spacesaver wheel from a Rover 25/MG ZR etc. for use on your MG 3 please be aware that the MG3 alloy wheel bolts will bottom out and foul on caliper brackets/hubs/possibly rear brake mechanisms before tightening fully.
If you don't spot this then you'll risk an awful lot of damage as soon as you go to drive off.

You'll need some shorter bolts to use with the rim......

(Apparently the standard MG3 alloy wheel bolts are fine for use with the genuine MG3 spacesaver rim)

Who's the dealer? And are they stuck for spares? This is a known issue that can happen, usually if the oil changes have been missed. Apparently dealers are now fitting modified parts, or so I've been told.

  • Bargain service - or not!
I'd think about reporting them to trading standards, if the price was in an advert. Mind you, an MOT plus service for thirty nine notes was a tad hopeful ;)
What's the going rate for a service from other dealers?
    Cheers

Just a quick heads-up: Eurocarparts have a 50% off offer on all oils this weekend (enter code OIL50); includes free delivery. I've just bagged the following, which is suitable for the latest 2016 MG3 with stop/start:

    Hi all,
I've just taken delivery of a new MG3
As a consequence, I've been looking at the small print on my AA car insurance policy, in conjunction with Gap Insurance policies. I did think that, in the event of a write-off or loss (theft) in the first year (actually 13 months with the AA) then the AA would replace the vehicle on a like-for-like new for old, so long as the repair costs 60% or more of the new car list price. Until I found this, purely by chance:

     http://blog.gapinsurance.co.uk/index.php/2015/02/23/the-perils-of-new-for-old-cover/

    - at which point I read the small print on my AA policy again. And strangely they don't make clear at what point (with respect to market value) they declare a car to be a write-off.

Basically, it is possible for your new car to be declared a write-off, yet still not qualify for the "new for old" clause. It could leave you very out of pocket. I've emailed the AA to seek written confirmation of their "write-off" policy.......

The bottom line is that it could be (probably is) very wise to start a Gap Insurance policy from Day One, rather than defer it for 12 months in the belief that the standard Car Insurance Policy will provide full cover in the first year.

    Hi all,
I've just taken delivery of a shiny new MG3 (but boy was it hard to see Ricky the Rover go - i'd owned it from new - 23 years - and done 239,000 miles in it  ).
I've seen mention of an MG6 service manual download in this thread:
     http://www.mgmotor.org.uk/forum/technicals/2735-mg6-mk1-service-manual#24428

    - is anyone aware of a similar link for the MG3 please? Whilst I've no plans to go tinkering for the next 3 years it'd be really useful to understand how it all goes together....

    Many thanks
    Brian
